Welcome to the NHEA Niagara Home Educator's Association Webpage. Hopefully you will find this helpful in making some meaningful connections for your family.
Founded in 1978, this group is part of the greater Homeschooling Community of Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. Our membership is comprised of a variety of denominations and expressions of worship.
People who do not consider themselves Christians are welcome to membership with the understanding that they acknowledge this is a faith-based group and will be mutually respectful of all its members. as you home-school in Niagara.
SUPPORT MEETINGS
The last Thursday evening of each month from 7:00pm to 9:30pm (excl. December, June & July)
"COMMUNITY DAYS"
Every other Friday from 1:30pm to 4:00pm
Homeschooling has been a rewarding experience for generations. With many methods and approaches, Christian home education has become a preferred alternative form of instruction. We at NHEA are here to support you and serve the home educating community in the Niagara Region.
All of the events held within the NHEA community are spearheaded by parents. Everyone is encouraged to both participate in and also introduce new events or activities as time and interest allows throughout the region. We are always looking for help with our annual community events such as the Seasonal parties, Showcase and Commencement.
If you are looking for support in offering something new, contact one of our board members, we are happy to support you in this.
We love our kids, we are choosing to home-school in some way, shape or form and we love to share our ideas, and gifts. We are an encouraging community and value respect in all circumstances. Because we are concerned for the privacy of our members and their families, Our Facebook page and Blog is for members only.
NHEA affirms the primacy of parental responsibility for the welfare, socialization and education of their children. NHEA is dedicated to the education and socialization of children in the natural setting of the family. Fortunately for us in Ontario home schooling is legal. The following excerpt is from Ontario's Education Act section 21: "When attendance excused (2) A person is excused from attendance at school if, (a) the person is receiving satisfactory instruction at home or elsewhere"
